Low Testosterone And The Grumpy Old Man

ANGRY-MANMen can Increase their testosterone naturally without drugs.

One day while riding the city bus, I overheard a conversation between two women. One of the women spoke of her ex-husband. After 25 years of marriage they had recently divorced. They were in their 50s. When they were young and married, the woman said her husband was so much fun. He enjoyed camping and vacationing. He was conversational, and teasing. He would do sweet little romantic things. Then her husband turned 40. From then on began his metamorphous into a grumpy old man. His insulting sarcasm and constant complaining had become so unbearable the woman had to get a divorce.

I have heard many women in their 50s and 60s say the same thing about their husband. In many cases like the woman on the bus, divorces result. In such relationships the thought is not considered that the husband’s grumpy personality may result from low testosterone.

Testosterone is a male hormone. It enables the body to continue sperm production, sexual drive, make reproductive tissues, make muscle mass, and build strong bones. An optimal amount of testosterone is produced when a man is young. According to a Mayo Clinic report, when a man reaches the age of 30 his testosterone level begins to drop one percent per year. The result of a low testosterone level are: depression, mood swings, low sex drive, weight gain or obesity, low energy, and weak bones. Surprising studies have shown that testosterone levels very by country. According to research done by Clinical Endocrinology, the ten countries with the high T-level in men 18 -35 are: Germany, Russia, Iceland, Niger, Ireland, France, England, Canada, India, and Australia. The five top countries with the top lowest T-level in men 18-35 are: United States, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. Men from Hong Kong and Japan are at the bottom of the list. However if men from the high testosterone countries move to the low testosterone countries and vis vera, their T-levels will change to the level of the country. This, according to the study is due to change in diet and environment.

There are medications to treat low testosterone; they are advertised on television all the time, their uses comes with side affects. According to the National Institute of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, it states that B vitamins and zinc are needed for testosterone production, as well as calcium, magnesium, and copper, which works together to grow muscle building hormones and improve mental health function. The institute also recommends the herbal supplements: horny goat weed to improve impotence and sex drive, maca to improve sexual function, and ginseng to raise testosterone levels. The institute’s study recommends a diet of steamed oysters, baked fish, avocados, nuts, poached or boiled eggs, figs, bananas, brown rice, cheese, yogurt, lean red meat, leafy green vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, and whole grains. Minimize alcohol intake. Exercising daily is always a plus.

In conclusion, men can maintain a healthy testosterone level regardless of their age and continue to be the romantic happy guy wives never want to leave.
